The Woodstock Police commits itself to the community to insure quality law enforcement, to safeguard Constitutional rights and maintain public confidence. The police department will strive to enforce our laws in a fair and equal manner, while using discretion appropriately.
Woodstock is along the Route 4 corridor that is part of a major east/west corridor across southern Vermont from New Hampshire to New York. Our average daily traffic is in excess of 10,000 vehicles in a small residential and highly visited tourist community. With this the department must perform duties to assure that vehicles and pedestrians move safely throughout the village. We ask that all motorists obey our posted 25 mph zone limits.

Woodstock Fire/EMS provides comprehensive fire protection, rescue, and emergency medical services to the Town of Woodstock and surrounding communities. For more than two centuries, the department has remained committed to protecting life, property, and the well-being of residents and visitors.
Operating from two stations, Woodstock Fire/EMS is staffed by a dedicated combination of call members and full-time professionals. Each year, the department responds to hundreds of emergency calls, including structure and chimney fires, motor vehicle accidents, medical emergencies, flooding events, and complex rescue incidents. Our members train continuously and are prepared to respond at a moment’s notice to challenging and often dangerous situations with professionalism and compassion.
In addition to fire suppression and emergency medical response, Woodstock Fire/EMS provides specialized services including ice and water rescue, vehicle extrication, and wildland search and rescue. The department is also committed to fire prevention, public education, CPR and community outreach, delivering programs in local schools and at public events.
Woodstock Fire also serves as the primary provider of pre-hospital emergency medical care and transport within the Woodstock community. Established in 1975, the service delivers Basic, Advanced, and Paramedic-level care, with trained emergency medical personnel available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
In addition to serving Woodstock, Woodstock Fire/EMS contracts to provide 911 emergency medical services to all or part of the communities of Pomfret, Plymouth, Reading, Hartland, and Bridgewater, ensuring consistent, high-quality pre-hospital care across the region.
Woodstock Fire/EMS maintains mutual aid agreements with the Town of Hartford, the City of Lebanon, and DART to ensure access to advanced paramedic services when needed. The department continually invests in modern equipment, including state-of-the-art ambulances, advanced cardiac monitoring (EKG) systems, and secure electronic patient care reporting, allowing members to deliver efficient, high-quality care while meeting state and federal standards.
At the core of Woodstock Fire/EMS is its people. Our members are our greatest asset, and we strive to maintain a diverse, skilled, and dedicated workforce. Whether responding to emergencies, providing education, or supporting community events, Woodstock Fire/EMS remains committed to excellence, accountability, and service to the community we proudly protect.
Woodstock Fire/EMS is currently accepting new call and part-time members. If you have an interest in serving as an EMT and/or Firefighter, we encourage you to contact us to learn more about joining one of the most challenging and rewarding public service organizations in our community.

Town Constable
The position of Woodstock Constable is an elected office. Woodstock Constables have served the people by responding to calls of the usual nature. Because it is an elected position, the Constables like to keep in mind the importance of the support of the community and the importance of personal contact with the people that they serve in the Town of Woodstock.
Kelly Linton is our Town Constable.
The Constables continue to answer dog complaints and have successfully secured a holding area at the Woodstock Animal Care facility on Route 4 in Woodstock. Please note that dogs need to be licensed every year and their vaccinations kept up to date. Dog licenses are available at the Town Clerk's Office and deadline for licensing is April 1st.
Woodstock Constables respond to the following calls:
