WOODSTOCK AMBULANCE SERVICE |
|

|
The Woodstock Ambulance Service is located at the Woodstock Emergency Services Building with the Woodstock Town Police and the Woodstock Town Fire Department. The Woodstock Ambulance Service has dedicated trained emergency medical personnel available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Patricia Cassidy is the Ambulance Coordinator. The department consists of approximately 25 members.
The Woodstock Ambulance Service is licensed is now presently as a Paramedic Service. Coordinator Patricia Cassidy will be licensed in early 2009 and Robert Bees is now attending paramedic school and will be in service in late 2009. The town has mutual aid agreements with the Town of Hartford and the City of Lebanon to also provide paramedic service when called upon.
Woodstock Ambulance Service took delivery of a new 4 x 4 ambulance in the summer of 2008 (2009 F450 LifeLine Ambulance). This vehicle is state of the art and allows our members to perform their duties in the best possible environment for prehospital medical care. Many areas we serve were previously inaccessible with two wheel drive. This will add to our ability and efficiency to access our more rural patients. The Woodstock Ambulance Service is very appreciative of the support our town has given us with this new purchase.
In prior years our 4 x 4 vehicle was a 1986 ambulance. This vehicle has been retired as an ambulance and is now in service to the South Woodstock Fire Department as a utility truck.
The individuals who volunteer to be part of our ambulance service are highly trained, dedicated emergency medical personnel. Most are EMT's and many of our EMT's have advanced EMT training know as "intermediate" or EMT-1. These folks are trained and licensed to provide a level of care that is interemediate between an EMT and a paramedic. We are all very thankful to these volunteers for the excellent service they provide to our community.
The Woodstock Ambulance Service is accepting new volunteers. If you have an interest in volunteering as an EMT, please call Pat at 457-2326 during normal business hours. There are many ways to get involved and become part of this great service.
